A Safer Way to Access Downloads

4 minute read

Introducing a simpler and more private Download Library from Elvyler Game Studios.

Access Your Downloads

Elvyler Game Studios online shop has been operational for a couple of years now. This online shop’s primary focus is to distribute and maintain access the various free downloadable resources I offer.

Since the shop’s inception, many of you have purchased tiles, or downloaded my free resources. One of my primary goals with the redesigned website is to make it easier than ever, and safer than ever for you to find and download these resources.

The new Download Library gives you one unified place to see your order history and download your available files. No account is required.

All you need is the email address connected with your files.

Why Is There No Account?

Privacy is my main focus. I know that a lot of my readers value their privacy, and I want to respect that at all costs by collecting as little information about you as possible.

When you make an order for free resources on Elvyler Game Studios, all you need is an email address. If the order requires payment, that’s handled by a trusted third-party payment gateway: Stripe. No information about your payment is stored on this site.

Why I need to collect your email address? This is so you can access your files later. Rather than require you to give me more information to set up an account, all you need to do is enter the email address associated with your files. Submitting your email address sends a temporary access link to your inbox. This confirms that you own the address before access is granted and prevents someone from accessing your library by simply guessing your email address.

How to Access Your Download Library

Accessing your digital library requires only a few steps:

  1. Open the Download Library from the Shop.
  2. Enter the email address you used to purchase or download.
  3. Check your inbox for the private access email.
  4. Click the link in the email to open the Library
  5. Browse through your available digital files.

To prevent uninvited access, the link is temporary. Once the access link expires, you can follow the steps above to get a new link.

One Place for All Your Files

Once in Your Library, you’ll see all of the files connected to your email.

Each entry provides access to the most recent downloadable files for your resources. When resources are updated, the most up-to-date version will automatically be applied to your list.

Your Library also includes filters to help you find what your looking for when the collection inevitably grows (more resources are on the way!).

Order History Is Included

For purchased resources, Your Library also includes your Order History.

This creates a single place for you to access everything.

A More Private Checkout

I’ve built the shop itself with the same privacy-first mindset.

My previous provider required more personal information that I was comfortable with. Specifically when dealing with $0.00 orders (free downloads). The previous provider still required full billing information to be submitted.

The new and improved store only requires your email address for completing downloads of free resources. Additionally, for digital purchases requiring payment information, the data is sent directly to the payment gateway provider and not stored on my servers at all.

The only personal information I require is an email address, this is for three reasons: To send you a receipt or order confirmation, to give you access to your Digital Library, and finally, to provide notification when digital resources are updated.

The goal behind this new shop is to respect everyone’s privacy as much as possible.

Yeah, I know this first update on the new site wasn’t as exciting as you would have hoped, but to me, it was an important one to get done. My focus is to ensure that everyone has a fun and safe experience while visiting my Game Room.

Thanks for reading, hope to see you back again soon!
